When actor
Hariprriya shared a video of her mookutti (nose piercing) ceremony, it drew much praise from her fans and became an instant hit on social media.
The actress tells us that it was done as a prep for an on screen character. She adds, “Majority of the women in my family have mookuttis and I think this time, the calling was for me to get it.” The traditional ceremony involved a homa at home and the piercing was done amidst vedic chants by priests.
“It was painful for a moment, but I’ve never been averse to needles from childhood. Post the piercing, when I looked into the mirror, it was surreal. The image I had seen for 31 years wasn’t there; it felt like someone else was looking back at me. I’m still getting used to it,” says Hariprriya.
