From Chethan Kumar to Santhosh Ananddram: Directors who gave hattrick hits in Kannada

It's easy for an actor to give hattrick hits back to back as they tend to work with different directors on different stories. However, when a director manages to give a hattrick hit with his consecutive films, it is indeed a remarkable feat. While not many filmmakers have achieved it in their careers, there are a few directors in the Kannada film industry who have given hattrick hits at the box office. From Chethan Kumar to Santhosh Anannddram, let’s take a look at the successful filmmakers who got three consecutive hits to their credit.

Chethan Kumar is one of the best directors in the Kannada film industry who gave hattrick hit movies. Chethan made his debut as a director with the movie 'Bahaddur', starring actor Dhruva Sarja. Then again he made a big hit with Dhruva Sarja with the film ‘Bharjari’ and tasted huge success. After that, he is also made ‘Bharaate’ starring actor Sri Murali which was also received well by the audience. Now, the actor has signed a movie with Puneeth Rajkumar. The movie is titled as ‘James’ and is all set for shooting after the lockdown is over.

Director-cinematographer S Krishna started his career with the movie 'Gajakesari' with Rocking Star Yash, and then became a star director with Sudeep's 'Hebbuli'. These two movies became super hits in Kannada film industry. Recently, Krishna directed ‘Pailwan’ starring Sudeep in the lead role. The movie gained huge attention and was released in multiple languages. Through ‘Pailwan’, Krishna gave hattrick hits in Kannada as a director.

Pawan Kumar who started his career as an actor from the movie ‘Mr. Garagasa’ in 2007, became a director in 2011 with the movie ‘Lifeu Ishtene’ starring Diganth in the lead role. Later, he directed ‘Lucia’ which is a crowdfunding movie starring Sathish Ninasam. With ‘U-Turn’, he had directed three successful movies in Kannada. ‘U-Turn’ was also remade in Telugu, which was directed by Pawan himself. Now, he is planning another crowdfunding movie in Kannada.

Anup Bhandari is one of the successful directors in Sandalwood, who started his career from the movie ‘RangiTaranga’ and earned huge fame from the movie. Later, he went on to direct ‘Rajaratna’ and is now in the process of shooting ‘Phantom’ starring Sudeep. The third movie has huge expectations, which is likely to release in 2021.

Santhosh Ananddram who is a director, screenwriter and lyricist made his Sandalwood debut with the movie ‘Rocky’ as a lyricist. Later, in 2014 Santhosh started his career as a director with the film ‘Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari’ starring Yash and Radhika in lead roles. The second movie he directed was ‘Rajakumara’ starring Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar. Now, Santhosh Ananddram has planned his third directorial venture with Puneeth Rajkumar. He is currently shooting for 'Yuvaratna'. Santhosh Ananddram, who gave two successful movies is now preparing for his third movie and we are sure, with Puneeth Rajkumar, it will be a hit too.
