Upendra is a mind blowing actor who has garnered a lot of praise over the years with his outstanding performances in Kannada films.Every film of his has been different from the others and Upendra has easily carried characters like that of a rich man, foreigner, beggar, mental, smart person and others. From ‘A’ to ‘S/O Satyamurthy’, here’s a look at six films of Upendra in which the star proved he could perform any role.

‘A’ is one of the best movies directed and acted by Upendra. The star played the role of a director for this 1998 psychological movie, which had a reverse screenplay and flashback within the flashback. This movie also talks about the casting couch issue in the industry. Upendra made his lead acting debut with this movie, where he played a challenging role.

Upendra

‘Upendra’ is another movie directed and acted by Upendra. ‘Upendra’ is a psychological thriller, which explains and explores the three human emotions by having three women characters representing them in the movie. Upendra’s role in this 1999 film too was challenging as he had to play a lover, a husband and an antisocial man at the same time. The star gave his best performance in this film.

Raktha Kanneeru

‘Raktha Kanneeru’ is a 2003 romantic comedy drama directed by Sadhu Kokila. Upendra played the role of an NRI who returns to India and has a problem with the Indian culture. He falls in love with a prostitute and gives away all his wealth to her. He later suffers from leprosy and dies of the disease. Upendra who had to play the character of a foreigner as well as a leprosy-affected person, added to the comic shade of the movie. The actor also made the audience laugh with his dialogues and facial expressions. ‘Raktha Kanneeru’ is one of the most hilarious movies in Sandalwood to date.

Anatharu

‘Anatharu’ is a 2007 drama directed by Sadhu Kokila. It is a multi-starrer movie, where Darshan and Upendra acted together. In this film, Upendra played an abnormal person who falls in love with his friend and is faithful to her. Upendra justified the character with his serious acting despite having any major dialogues.

Kalpana

‘Kalpana’ is a 2012 horror movie directed by Rama Narayanan. Upendra played the role of a young man possessed by a spirit. Upendra has given one of his best performances for this role, he charmed everyone in the saree avatar which got him a lot of appreciation.

S/O Satyamurthy

‘S/O Satyamurthy’ is a Telugu movie directed by Trivikram Srinivas. Upendra played a villainous character in the 2015 Allu Arjun starrer. The character portrayed Upendra as both bad and good. His fight with Allu Arjun in the movie fetched him huge popularity in Tollywood. The audience also appreciated his work in the movie. He balanced the role very well with his acting.
