Chiranjeevi Sarja’s upcoming Kannada release Chandralekha is the remake of the Telugu film Prema Katha Chitram, which starred Sudhir Babu, the nephew of superstar Mahesh Babu, in the lead. The similarities in content apart, shooting for the remake apparently had some rather strange coincidences. According to the makers, when the team was shooting for a fight sequence during the climax at a house in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad — the same location at which the original was shot — Chiru tore a ligament in his leg after taking a tumble.
“After I fell, the team suddenly announced pack up for the day. I was surprised and returned to the hotel we were staying at. Much later, the producer told me that during the shooting of the same scene in the original at this location, Sudhir also had sustained such an injury,” Chiru tells us.
A source from the team tells us that Sudhir even mentioned this event at a press conference, but since Prema Katha Chitram did well at the box office, he said that the team should see it as a good sign and hoped that the Kannada remake would do well too.
