Mysuru hudugi Amrutha Iyengar moved to Bengaluru a few years ago to pursue her cinematic dreams. Today, the city has become her second home. “Right from the day I moved in, I realised that the city has a rather infectious vibe. It makes you want to wake up and get on the road to head to work. The city makes you a go-getter, it makes you want to achieve something. That spirit has rubbed off on me, too,” says Amrutha. “I find that the city is respectful to women; it makes me feel safe. In Mysuru, life grinds to halt by 9.30 pm. In Bengaluru, everything comes to life after 10.30 pm. That probably has to do with the fact that Bengaluru has more people working for longer hours. So even when we step out late, the roads are buzzing. I feel safe taking a cab or an auto during late hours too,” she says.
