Poorna Chandra

'Poorna Chandra' starring Ambarish was remake of 'Aarulirunthu Arbathu Varai'. This was one tear-jerker film where the protagonist spends his entire life toiling hard for his siblings and giving them good life only to get ditched when they find their ways. The remake good appreciation from the audience.

Gedda Maga

'Gedda Maga' starring Shankar Nag in the triple role had huge expectations as it was a remake of Rajini's blockbuster 'Moondru Mugam'. The original had Rajini in a powerful police officer role and a cranky villain role which was a cakewalk for Rajini but the same magic couldn't be repeated in the Kannada version ending up as average.

Anjada Gandu

'Anjada Gandu' starring V Ravichandran and Khushboo is a remake of 'Thambikku Entha Ooru'. 'Anjada Gandu' turned out to be a huge blockbuster for Ravichandran. The film made him closer to the family audience. The film and the songs are still remembered by the audience. The craze of Ravichandran multi-folded many times. After this film, the pair of Ravichandran and Khushboo became a hot favorite for movie buffs.

Annavru

'Annavru' starring Ambarish and Darshan carried huge expectations as the film was a remake of Mani Ratnam's classic 'Thalapathi' starring Rajinikanth and Mammootty. The Kannada remake had some changes to elevate Ambarish's character a bit more than Darshan's character. The remake turned out to be a safe bet for the producer to recover their money. Mani Ratnam's wife and actress Suhasini acted in the Kannada remake as a pair to Ambarish.

Kotigobba

'Kotigobba' starring Vishnuvardhan and Priyanka Upendra was the remake of Rajinikanth's ultimate classic 'Baasha'. The Kannada remake was released in 2001 to much success as Vishnuvardhan carried the film on his shoulders. Vishnuvardhan gave his style and attitude to the character without imitating Rajinikanth anywhere. The movie turned out to be a big hit also.
