Every aspect of the filmmaking made 'Maro Charitra' an unforgettable classic. Kamal Haasan and Saritha lived in their roles as true lovers who sacrifice their life. The Kannada remake was released in 2005 with Mayur Patel and Tanu Roy in lead roles, however, it failed to get the classic right.

The film took upon existing caste pride and emphasized humanity and education to the people than caste pride. This film was remade in Kannada as 'Thandege Thakka Maga' in 2006 with Ambareesh and Upendra reprising the father-son roles in Kannada which failed to recreate the original magic.
