Mungaru Male

'Mungaru Male' once again proved when the love story is told in the right manner, the audience will accept a sad ending also. The performance of the actors and the music jelled so beautifully in the film, making it an evergreen classic as when the film was remade in other languages, the magic didn't happen. Ganesh stole the audience's hearts and his performance was hailed as natural. The emotional scenes worked out fantastically making the audience come back to the theatres on repeat mode. 'Mungaru Male' is regarded as a modern classic in love stories and has a huge following.

Premaloka

V Ravichandran's 'Premaloka' who directed this epic love saga, made the entire college students and youth go mad and crazy, and the result was- humongous crowds at the theatres. 'Premaloka' was a true announcement of changing times of Kannada cinema giving what the youngsters wanted at that time in full glitz and glamour made on a huge budget beyond the imagination of the Kannada cinema market. 'Premaloka' gave a true definition of what a lover boy does and to what extent he goes to achieve his love despite any hurdles thrown at him. The gamble and risk paid off as the youth embraced the film wholeheartedly making Ravichandran the showman of Kannada cinema. The soundtrack composed by Hamsalekha went on to create records in audio sales.

Bandhana

'Bandhana' proved love is true and immortal. The film showed how a true lover prays for his loved one's happiness forever and goes to any level of sacrifice. Vishnuvardhan and Suhasini just lived in their roles making the film a timeless classic. Vishnuvardhan who was known as an action hero proved what a brilliant actor he can be when offered emotional roles also.

Pallavi Anu Pallavi

Mani Ratnam's debut 'Pallavi Anu Pallavi' was way ahead of its time during its release as Mani Ratnam gave his own mature take on love and relationships during the changing times of the 80s when falling for an elder person was considered a taboo those days. The film grew on to become a cult classic as the next generations embraced the film wholeheartedly and are so relevant for today's times.

Geetha

Shankar Nag's 'Geetha' is an unforgettable love story from his directorial films. This tragic love story left the audience teary-eyed forever and inspired Mani Ratnam to make 'Geethanjali'. The soundtrack composed by Ilaiyaraaja was such a big hit that Ilaiyaraaja himself used 4 songs of 'Geetha' in various films. Sanjay and Geetha remain evergreen lovers in Kannada cinema.
