BigBang’s Taeyung cancels his concert in Indonesia, gets trolled for his move

BigBang’s Taeyung abruptly canceled his tour The Light Year of Jakarta, Indonesia, 15 days before the concert. On January 10, 2025, iMe Entertainment Group of Indonesia issued a notice of cancellation of the concert at the Beach City International Stadium due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’. They further added ‘We understand the excitement and anticipation you had for this event, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.’ They did not provide any further reason, but the ticket holder will receive a full refund.

Just a few days before this notice, in an interview with CNN, Taeyung shared his thoughts on the role of BigBand in K-pop’s global rise, stating “Thankfully, we were able to open doors to global markets for many Kpop bands that came after us. And they can perform on world stages. I wouldn’t say we presented that, but it feels great that our efforts have played a part in that.” Even after an acknowledgment from BTS member Suga saying “It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that BigBang practically made BTS,” many fan members aka ‘Army’ spammed Taeyung’s Instagram comment section.

BigBang officially made a comeback in the 2024 MAMA Awards when Taeyung, Daesung, and G-Dragon performed ‘BANG BANG BANG’ and ‘FANTASTIC BABY’. His tour ‘The Light Year’ was his first solo concert in over 7 years, and he visited Indonesia to perform at a music festival in Lido Music & Arts Center in Bogor, West Java, in 2023.

Many of his fans were anticipating his return to the country, and the entertainment group posted a promotional video for his concert tickets. With this sudden cancellation, the fans are devastated but the trollers ‘paved their way’. As many people in the comment section are mocking, and ridiculing him for his aforementioned comment.
