What’s in a name? Apparently, a lot as far as B-Townies are concerned. Naming a child comes with a lot of responsibility and the pressure to choose a unique name doubles when you’re a celebrity. Let’s take a look at why newly-minted celeb parents named their kids what they did:

Anushka and Virat recently announced the name of their daughter on social media with an adorable picture of the family. “We have lived together with love, presence, and gratitude as a way of life but this little one, Vamika has taken it to a whole new level!” the actress wrote. Vamika is another name of Goddess Durga, who represents strength and protection.

A flagbearer of secularism, Shah Rukh named his youngest child as AbRam. While ‘Ab’ in AbRam is derived from Prophet Abraham, ‘Ram’ reflects the Hindu God Ram. Isn’t it perfect?

Aishwarya and Abhishek’s darling daughter Aaradhya must have inspired reverence in her parents to be named so. The name literally translates to ‘the revered one’ but can also be interpreted as ‘the worshipped’ or as the one who has the ‘blessings of Lord Ganesh’.

Shahid and Mira have been blessed with two adorable kids, Misha and Zain. While daughter Misha’s name is a combination of her parents’ names, Zain has an Arabic and Persian connection, and means ‘beauty.’

Kareena and Saif caused an uproar when they named their son Taimur, because people assumed they had named him after a 14th-century Turkish traitor. But soon, the couple issued a statement that read, “I'm aware of the heritage of the Turkish ruler and my son was not named after him. He was Timur, my son is Taimur. Perhaps the root is similar but it's not the same name. Taimur is an ancient Persian name, meaning iron. Both my wife and I liked its sound and the meaning."

Soha and Kunal’s daughter Inaaya was born on the ninth day of the auspicious Hindu period, Navaratri. Keeping that in mind, the couple named her Inaaya which means ‘a gift from God’, and added ‘Naumi’ as her middle name to mark the day of her birth, known as Mahanavami.

Shilpa and Raj had daughter Samisha through surrogacy. Explaining the unique name, the actress informed that ‘Sa’ in Samisha means ‘to have’ in Sanskrit, and ‘Misha’, in Russian, means ‘someone like God’. They also have a son, Viaan whose name means ‘lively’ or ‘alive’.

After announcing the birth of his baby boy, Aamir took to Facebook to reveal why he had named him as Azad Rao Khan. He shared that he was named after his great grand uncle, freedom fighter Maulana Azad. Azad means ‘free’ or ‘liberated’ in Urdu.

Salman Khan’s sister, Arpita is a mother of two adorable kids, Ahil and Ayat. Talking about the names, Aayush had told ETimes exclusively, “We wanted everyone to be named with ‘A’. When I was travelling to London, I met a guy named Ahil and thought it was a very unique name and it turned out to mean ‘the rightful prince’ in Persian, which was very fascinating. We believe in secular relationships, so, we wanted both our kids to have a Muslim first name and a Hindu surname”. Ayat, in Persian, means ‘a miracle’.

Neha and Angad’s daughter has been named Mehr. Angad took to social media to introduce their daughter to the world with an adorable picture and wrote, “Waheguru MEHR Kare.” Mehr is a Persian name and means ‘blessing’.
