Amit Trivedi for Queen: Touted as the second AR Rahman of the Hindi film industry, Amit Trivedi is a gifted music composer. Having composed music for films like Dev D, Udaan, Ishaqzaade, Lootera and many others, Amit’s journey from a jingle music composer to a full-fledged music director is truly an inspiration. The courage to do something different with each of his films is something which sets Amit Trivedi apart. His songs may not always go on to become chartbusters but there is a separate section of music lovers which respects and loves the ace musician to the core. As for Queen, ‘London thumakda’ became the trademark wedding song of the year, ‘O gujariya’ set everyone tapping their feet while ‘Taake jhanke’ was a track which instantly brought a wide smile on your face. And who can forget the recreated version of ‘Hungama...’ - an ultimate tribute to the original composer duo of Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Anupam Amod, Arko Pravo Mukherjee, Honey Singh, Mithoon and Pritam for Yariyaan: Be it the party number, ‘Sunny sunny’ composed and sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh or the ear-pleasing ‘Baarish...,’ composed by Mithoon, Yaariyan’s music was full of variety. ‘Love me thoda...,’ composed by Pritam and sung by Arijit Singh was another song from the album which was a crowd favourite. There is no denying the fact that Yaariyan’s superhit soundtrack attracted movie-goers to catch this film that didn't feature any prominent stars. While the film received mixed reviews from the critics, its music managed to leave a lasting impression on everyone's mind.

Himesh Reshammiya, Meet Bros Anjjan and Honey Singh for Kick: Beyond those power-packed action sequences, stylish dialoguebaazi and naughty dance moves, it was Kick’s music which gained everyone’s attention much before its release. While the nation swayed to the soulful ‘Tu hi tu...,’ they took to the dance floor with ‘Jumme ki raat.’ Honey Singh's ‘Yaar na miley’ was another track worth a mention. And then you had ‘Hangover’ exclusively sung by the bhai himself. For Meet Bros Anjjan, it was quite an achievement to convince the superstar to go behind the mic and sing a full-fledged song. And for the ones who have heard it, you know it was not an easy composition to pull off.

Mithoon, Ankit Tiwari and SOCH for Ek Villain: If for nothing else, Mohit Suri’s films are looked forward to, for their outstanding music and the way that the director shoots them in his movies. Boasting of a talented ensemble of musicians, Ek Villain had some soulful songs like ‘Banjaara’ composed by Mithoon, ‘Galliyan’ composed by Ankit Tiwari and ‘Aawari’ composed by Pakistani band, SOCH. While ‘Galliyan’ escalated Ankit Tiwari’s music career to further heights, Mohd. Irfan managed to get noticed by crooning the extremely emotional track, ‘Banjaara’. Time and again, musicians from Pakistan have proved their musical talent. SOCH’s ‘Aawari’ with Momina Mustehsan's velvet voice was another chapter to the mellifluous story. ‘Humdard’ soulfully rendered by Arijit Singh cannot be ignored either.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for 2 States: With 2 States, the super-talented trio proved that there is no one in the industry who can replace them. No matter how welcoming the industry is of newcomers, musicians like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy cannot be ignored. Each and every song from 2 States is a reflection of trio’s experience as music directors which they have gained through the years. While ‘Offo’ and ‘Locha-E-Ulfat’ were perfect compositions complimenting the carefree college life, ‘Chaandaniya’ and ‘Mast Magan’ were beautiful compositions too. 2 States’ soundtrack was thoroughly enjoyable.
