Sairaah: A music tour is much more than a series of performances
After years of performing at live venues, weddings, corporate events and fashion shows across the country, singer-songwriter Sairaah is stepping into a new chapter. The Delhi-based artiste, known for her blend of Bollywood, pop, English classics and fusion music, begins her first headline multi-city tour on June 5.
As she prepares to take the stage across cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Jaipur, before heading to Sydney and Melbourne, Sairaah admits she is experiencing a mix of emotions. She says, “I’m feeling a mix of excitement, gratitude and a little bit of nervous energy, which I think is a good sign. A tour is much more than a series of performances. It’s an opportunity to meet people who have supported my music and journey from different cities. We’ve been working on this for a long time, so seeing it finally come to life feels incredibly special.”
While every stop on the tour holds significance, Delhi remains closest to her heart. She shares, “Every city has its own energy, so it’s difficult to choose just one. Delhi will always feel like home. Mumbai has an incredible live music culture, Bengaluru’s audiences are deeply connected to music, and Hyderabad and Jaipur always surprise me with their warmth. I’m equally excited about Sydney and Melbourne because it will be my first time performing for audiences outside India. But if I had to pick one city, it would be Delhi. Starting a tour in front of a home crowd is a feeling that’s hard to describe.”
Sairaah hopes her concert offers more than just a setlist to the audience. She says, “I love creating a journey rather than simply performing songs one after another. There will be moments where everyone sings along, moments that feel nostalgic, and moments where we simply sit with an emotion together. Whether it’s Bollywood music, English songs or my originals, my goal is to make people feel something and leave with a memory that stays with them long after the concert is over.”
At a time when live performances are becoming larger and more ambitious, conversations around audience behaviour and safety have also gained prominence. Sairaah believes artistes must remain mindful of what is happening beyond the spotlight. She says, “Safety should always be the highest priority for everyone involved, including the artistes, crew and audience. A great live show isn’t just about high energy; it’s about creating a space where people feel comfortable, respected and safe. When audiences feel that, the energy naturally becomes even more powerful.”
Looking back, she describes her musical journey as one shaped by persistence and continuous learning. She shares, “Music has given me some of the most beautiful opportunities of my life, but it has also taught me patience and resilience. Every stage, every audience, every song, and even every setback has helped shape me as an artist. I’m still learning every day, and that’s what keeps the journey exciting.”
Alongside the tour, Sairaah is also working on new music. Following the release of her original tracks and her latest single, Teri Meri, she plans to release fresh music every month. “This year is shaping up to be one of my most exciting yet. The new music feels very honest and personal to where I am in life right now. We have a lot planned, and the tour is just the beginning,” she concludes.
