Music review: 'Wajah Tum Ho'

The soundtrack of 'Wajah Tum Ho' fails to make a lasting impression. The primary reason is that out of the seven tracks, four are recreated versions of yesteryear classics. The remaining three are variants of the title track.

The album starts off with 'Wajah Tum Ho', composed by Mithoon and sung by him along with

Altamash Faridi

and Tulsi Kumar. The slow-paced track grows on you gradually, thanks to the soothing composition and minimal use of instruments. The second version minus Tulsi���s voice is good but it���s the lounge version featuring Altamash���s voice and instruments like drums, flute, sarod and string guitar that make an impact.

The evergreen romantic number, 'Pal Pal

Dil Ke Paas

' ('Blackmail' 1973), rendered by Kishore Kumar and composed by Kalyanji-Anandji, has been recreated by

Abhijit Vaghani

in two versions titled 'Dil Ke Paas'. The first, featuring Arijit Singh and Tulsi, lacks the essence, beats and rhythm of the original. Probably, the makers thought that the rap portion by Neuman Pinto would help them cater to a younger audience, but frankly, it doesn���t add any value to the number. Armaan Malik is able to salvage the composition to a certain extent in the unplugged version.

'Dil Mein Chhupa Loonga' by Armaan and Tulsi and 'Maahi Ve', sung by Neha Kakkar, are decent but not as good as the originals. Overall, the soundtrack is average and leaves you wondering that probably, it would have been different if there had been more original compositions.
