With a series of digital concerts starting today, around 20 mainstream and independent musicians are coming together to support the folk music community by helping to raise funds for folk musicians and their families.
The initiative, 'Let's Folk Together', a folk artiste relief fundraiser, will witness the likes of
Shankar Mahadevan,
Amit Trivedi,
Vishal Dadlani, Salim-Sulaiman, Raghu Dixit,
Harbhajan Mann, Papon,
Mame Khan
and others, coming together to support the folk music community. These artistes will perform special concerts from their homes till May 3.
Folk and Sufi singer Mame Khan, who is a part of these digital concerts, says, "In difficult times, it is very important to help each other and folk artistes from across the country are not all equally privileged and the lockdown is affecting their daily income in a very severe way. These artistes and their songs have been an integral part of so many happy occasions in life, for all our celebrations. Now that they are facing hardships, I feel it is time to give back to these artistes. Also, in times like these, everyone turns to music as a ray of hope. So, why not share some love with the musicians who are behind these beautiful songs?"
