Yeh Hai India Movie Review

STORY: When 25-year-old Mithilesh Kumar aka Micky (Gavie Chahal), a London-based NRI takes up the uphill task of proving that his place of origin – India – is more than just its stereotypical stories, he finds himself combatting the age-old issues the country is notorious for.

REVIEW: In amoment of weakness, coupled with an underlying sense of belonging to his country of origin, Micky packs his bags and shifts to India in order to prove to his obnoxious family friend back home that there is more to this ‘third world’ country.

Both the film’s title and the events leading up to the climax are pretty darn preachy, and predictable from the very first frame. The actors’ have been consistently inconsistent in this social drama and its length only making things worse for writer-director Lom Harsh. Sure ‘Yeh Hai India’ has its heart in the right place but the way this story has been told and projected on the silver screen is too Utopian to say the least. Moreover, the end to all the complex problems – pertaining to social issues ranging from beggar mafia to hooliganism – seems to seek and find their solutions in the most convenient way possible.

‘Yeh Hai India’ is one of those zillion movies that highlight what is wrong with this nation, but fail to come up with a substantial solution, even by cinematic standards.
