Ten films Bollywood directors can make on football

The FIFA World Cup has caught the world’s attention with soccer becoming every nation’s first priority over cinema and work. While even Bollywood actors as well as moviegoers are glued to their television screens, we wonder what the noted Indian filmmakers would pick up from the FIFA action to make a film. Drawing inspiration from the action-packed World Cup performance put up by Jennifer Lopez, Indian glamour girls Gauahar Khan and Sunny Leone can easily bag an item number in one such film projectwhereas we already have our very own Punjabi rapper Honey Singh to fill into Pitbull’s shoes.

Ten films Bollywood directors can make on football

Karan Johar: Kuch Football, Kuch Fun
Karan Johar can surely name his film, ‘Kuch Football, Kuch Fun’. After a sour friendship with his best buddy Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar may look for younger kids on the block for his sporty film. The director may opt for the tried and tested actors like Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra again, if they don’t mind sweating it out on the field. The film will definitely be a big-on-budget project which can be exotically shot in football loving nations like Spain, Germany or Brazil. No offence but Alia Bhatt can happily opt for a cheerleader’s role in this one.

Aditya Chopra: Dilwale World Cup Le Jayenge
After roping in his home brigade – wife Rani Mukerji and brother Uday Chopra for the film, Aditya Chopra can probably rope in his Dhoom dude Abhishek Bachchan for the lead role. Since Abhishek is a huge Chelsea fan, we don’t expect him to become part of any team which doesn’t bleed blue. Aishwarya can surely look for a comeback with this one since she is not shy from doing glamourous roles anymore.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali: Gend Aur Gori
Football may be seen for the first time in a magnum opus by Sanjay Leela Bhansali set in the backdrop of Rajasthan deserts. After proving his mettle in Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela, Ranveer Singh can be an apt choice for this sports flick. While Aamir Khan’s Lagaan with cricket in the backdrop missed the Oscar mark, this one can leave soccer fans awestruck by presenting the desi version of football. Imagine Deepika Padukone cheering Ranveer in a lehenga-choli – Bingo. The film is destined to grab an Oscar.

Mahesh Bhatt – Soccer Fever: The Prostitution Behind
Since so many filmmakers will be churning out film ideas on soccer, Mahesh Bhatt can grab the most talked about topic – the prostitution market that flourishes behind the gates of a stadium. He can rope in sizzling sensations Sunny Leone, Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra for the oomph effect whereas Emran Hashmi can too accept the offer on his maternal uncle’s insistence.

Farah Khan: Football Pe Kick
No one other than Shah Rukh Khan can bag this offer by Farah Khan, who is currently busy shooting Happy New Year with the actor. The film can revive the hit jodi of SRK and Anushka Sharma who can sizzle to peppy Bollywood numbers on Farah’s tune. Shah Rukh, who is an ardent Manchester United supporter, can surely do a Wayne Rooney in the film. A raunchy item number by Priyanka Chopra would definitely be an icing on the cake.

Rohit Shetty: Soccer Express- Bathinda To Bhubaneswar
Since Shah Rukh Khan would have said yes to friend Farah Khan by now, Rohit Shetty can lay his hands on Ranbir Kapoor. And looking at the box office collections of Rohit’s Chennai Express, Ranbir Kapoor may not find a reason to say no to this one. Since Ranbir is a Barcelona F.C. supporter, we may see him stepping into the shoes of Lionel Messi in this Bollywood style football film. Katrina can pair up with the Kapoor kid in this romcom sporty affair and the song and dance numbers will definitely be a hit with their fans.

Ten films Bollywood directors can make on football

Anurag Kashyap: All Is Fair In Football
Known for his out of the world filmmaking ideas, Anurag Kashyap can rope in Irffan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui for this action flick. With more focus on the internal politics within a team and the emotional psyche of players, the film can stand out from the rest in script and execution. A raunchy item number by Gauahar Khan or Sunny Leone and good friend Huma Qureshi in the female lead will definitely assure the project’s success.

Ayan Mukerji: Soccer Sang Shaadi
If Ayan Mukerji of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fame decides to make a film on football, anyone other than Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone cannot fit into the frame. However, if they are taken by others, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor will be an apt choice for this one. Aditya has played during the celebrity football matches and has the right physique for the role. But which player will he love to play, should surely be left to him.

Ram Gopal Verma: Soccer Turns Scary
The director with an expertise in horror filmmaking can play around with the idea all over the stadium. A ghost player in the team of eleven will be a good choice and some ‘Shaolin Soccer’ like action will be fun to watch. Real life couple Bipasha Basu and Harman Baweja can pair up for this one as Harman has played the game during the celebrity football matches.
