Salman Khan hit-and-run-case: All that happened during the day

While other stars prefer to live behind heavy gates of their own mansions, superstar Salman Khan continues to reside at his first floor flat in Galaxy Apartments at Bandra. However, this comes at a price. Salman's fans and paparazzi keep a close watch on the star's home from the street in front of Khan's residence. Each time there is a film slated for release or Salman's court proceedings, the media camps outside the building, on the street that provides a vantage view of Salman's home. While this posed a problem, what compounded the issue was the fact that the constant attention was becoming a cause of worry for the other residents who were concerned about the safety of their children playing in the indoor park. Hence, the society members decided to install iron spikes and glass shards on the wall compound and keep unwanted visitors at bay.

For Salman Khan, it was a day filled with fear, nervousness and anxiety, when he was sentenced to five years of jail by the Mumbai Session Court on May 6, 2015. Before the judge could announce Salman’s jail term in the 2002 hit-and-run case, the power supply in the courtroom had been cut. It was only after 26 minutes, when the power supply was restored, that the the jail term could be announced. According to BEST, the reason for the power cut was a trip in the circuit. Had there been no power cut, the verdict copy in the case would have come before 2 pm. While in Bombay High Court, which granted the actor relief until May 8, Harish Salve argued that a copy of the sessions court judgment was not available and, therefore, bail should be granted till May 8, when his regular bail plea is slated to be heard. The power failure and delay in verdict proved to be a rather happy coincidence for Salman Khan, who was able to return home on the same day when he was sentenced to five years of imprisonment.

For Salman Khan, home is where the heart is. The actor, back from the shooting of Bajrangi Bhaijaan in Kashmir, looked happy to be back in the lawns of Galaxy Apartments, surrounded by his family. Mirror lensman Himanshu Shinde captured the moment. Reportedly, the topic of discussion was the financial status of his home banner, and brothers Sohail and Arbaaz, along with sister Alvira Agnihotri, were all ears as they discussed money matters over coffee and cookies. The actor took a break from the brainstorming, when his four-year-old nephew, Yohan, Sohail's younger son, came running into the garden. He was followed by a young blonde who sat down next to Sallu. When Shinde tried to take a closer look at the actor's companion, who is, interestingly, not his steady date, Romanian model Iulia Vantur, the actor's bodyguards quickly intervened and put an end to the peek-a-boo session.

Bombay Times managed to capture a few images of Salman Khan in a relaxed mood at Galaxy, his home in Bandra post his bail in the 2002 hit-and-run case. Here he is, sipping a cup of coffee and meeting people. He also spent some time with his pets before going indoors. But the superstar made it a point to wave out to his fans gathered outside. The next hearing will be held in July 2015.

Salman Khan had stopped his lawyer from talking about his heart condition during the hearing. But papers had already been submitted to the court, reports Pinkvilla.com. As per the report, Salman has a medical conditions called 'arteriovenous malformation' which can lead to intense pain, bleeding and other serious medical conditions.

Salman Khan is a free man till July 2015 now that he has been granted a bail by the court in the 2002 hit-and-run case. The latest update on the actor is that he will resume shooting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan in Kashmir today onwards, stated a report on NDTV.com. Salman completed the bail formalities at the Mumbai sessions court on May 8, 2015. After returning home, the actor came out in the balcony of his apartment and greeted the fans with a namaste, a wave and a salute. “All those who prayed for and supported me thank u meherbani shukriya," [sic] the actor tweeted.

Salman Khan leaves the Mumbai sessions court after furnishing the bail bond of Rs 30000. The actor will remain a free man, at least till July 2015, when the Bombay High Court takes up the next hearing. The date for the next hearing will be decided on June 15, 2015. For now, Salman is on his way to Galaxy Apartments.

3-4 days after the incident, Kamaal Khan's statement was recorded in Marathi in which he revealed that it was Salman Khan who was driving on the fateful night. Apparently, the man holds the actor in high regards and is completely against him being sentenced to five years of imprisonment. He is now being taken to the hospital.

The hearing for bail plea has begun in the Bombay High Court. The judge has allowed Salman Khan's matter to be taken up first and is asking when culpable homicide was applied to the case. Lawyer Amit Desai has begun his arguement and is recounting the night of 27-28 September, 2002. Desai has further said that it's not disputed that there was an accident.
