'Race 3' to 'Chhota Chetan': Bollywood films made in 3D

Bollywood cinema has evolved over the years and with the change in time, Hindi movies have seen various developments in terms of techniques and equipments used in filming. Moreover, films have entered a whole new phase and technical expertise has become an indispensable part of it. India is nowhere lagging behind when it comes to using new technology for a film to make it visually more appealing and thus, use of 3D technologies was introduced in Bollywood. Here we compile a list of movies made in 3D.

 'Race 3'

The latest to join the bandwagon of 3D films is Salman Khan starrer ‘Race 3’, which is being directed by choreographer turned director, Remo Dsouza. The latest buzz in tinsel town says that the movie will be made in 3D along with the usual 2D print just to ensure that audiences get the larger than life view from the cinema. For the uninitiated, this will be Remo’s second attempt to make a 3D film after his directorial debut film ‘ABCD’.

 'Chhota Chetan'

The first Hindi movie to be made in 3D was Urmila Matondkar starrer ‘Chhota Chetan’. Being a fantasy movie, the 3D effects were well implemented by the makers. 'Chhota Chetan' being the first Bollywood movie in 3D, the novelty attracted the audience to the cinema houses and as per box office reports, the film was well received by the masses. 3D glasses were a major attraction for the children back then. However, after 'Chhota Chetan', it took long, for a filmmaker to present a 3D movie again.

'Dangerous Ishq', 'Raaz 3D' and 'Haunted 3D'

All these Vikram Bhatt movies were made with 3D technologies to give special horror effects to the movie. All thanks to Vikram Bhatt’s skillful direction, the movie did well at the ticket window. The makers were successful in sending chills down the spine of the audience watching the movie. 'Haunted 3D' is India’s first stereoscopic 3D horror film. 'Dangerous Ishq' marked Karisma Kapoor’s comeback to Bollywood after a brief hiatus.

'Ra.One', 'Don 2' and 'Joker'

‘Ra.One’, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, boasts of high-end 3D conversion and world-class visual effects. With the high quality of marketing strategy, the film was considered as one of the high budget films in Bollywood. Just like 'Ra.One', SRK’s 'Don 2' and 'Joker', starring Akshay Kumar were also converted into 3D from 2D.
