Promising actresses: Why did they disappear?

Diana Penty: Supermodel Diana Penty became an instant star with her to-die-for looks and natural acting skills. The sleeper hit 'Cocktail' gave her instant fame all across and it was expected that she would be bombarded with offers. Though nothing of that sort seems to have happened till now, we are hoping that Diana will pleasantly surprise her fans soon. She will now be seen in Aanand L Rai's 'Happy Bhaag Jayegi' opposite Abhay Deol.

Promising actresses: Why did they disappear?

Ameesha Patel: Ameesha Patel made huge waves with her cute looks and bubbly character in Kaho Naa Pyar Hai. She also delivered an all time hit Gadar with Sunny Deol. Ameesha also won a number of awards for her hard-hitting performance in the movie. Though the movie gave her an edge over all other actresses of the year, films like Kya Yahi Pyar Hai, Ye Zindagi Ka Safar did not do too well at the box-office. With her home production Desi Magic set to release soon, we hope she manages to rule hearts again.

Promising actresses: Why did they disappear?

Lisa Ray: The green-eyed beauty had a very brief episode in B-town. Her sensuous body language and intense intimate scenes in Kasoor proclaimed her as one of the most promising actresses in the industry. Listed among the 'Most Beautiful Women of the Millennium,' Lisa received accolades for her critically acclaimed role in Deepa Mehta’s Water but failed to re-create the Kasoor magic again. We are sure Lisa’s fans will be hoping to see her back on screen soon.

Promising actresses: Why did they disappear?

Bhagyashree: Bhagyashree tasted stardom with the superhit movie Maine Pyar Kiya. Blockbuster of the year, MPK had announced the arrival of the next big thing in B-town. Her childlike voice and infectious smile left her fans yearning for more. Here’s hoping that we see the talented Bhagyashree in a hard-hitting performance on screen.

Promising actresses: Why did they disappear?

Mahima Chaudhary: Subhash Ghai's protege, Mahima wooed the audience with her iconic role of a village belle in Pardes. Her simple look and innocence in the movie won numerous hearts. She was nominated for her performance at many award shows. After Pardes, Mahima did few low budget films like Ye Tera Ghar Ye Mera Ghar, Seher, Saya, etc. But none of her movies could cast the same spell on the audience after Pardes. We want this one back, and soon!

Promising actresses: Why did they disappear?

Sandali Sinha: Those tears you wanted to stop, and the smile you wished to see again and again - Sandali Sinha's portrayal of Pia in Tum Bin was remarkable. This style diva had all the ingredients of making it big in B-town. Films like Pinjar and Tum Bin gave her critical acclaim. Filmdom’s loss? Certainly.

Promising actresses: Why did they disappear?

Bhumika Chawla: Salman's protege, Bhumika Chawla, carved a niche with her acting skills with her very first movie, Tere Naam. The movie bagged her many awards for her hard-hitting debut performance. But unfortunately, Bhumika could not re-create the magic again. Happily married to Yoga guru Bharat Thakur, Bhumika is making it big in Tollywood. We’re hoping Bhumika changes track and makes a resounding comeback in Hindi films as well.

Promising actresses: Why did they disappear?

Gracy Singh: The TV starlet created a rage among the audience with her dynamic performance as Gauri in Lagaan. Right when she entered the league of top Bollywood actresses, her next movie Armaan, failed at the box-office. But we can never forget Gracy as Gauri from Lagaan and hope to see more of her.
