Just after the news of the Pancholi family filing a defamation suit against Jiah Khan's mother Rabia Khan, they opened up about the case in an interview with Mumbai Mirror. Aditya Pancholi said, "We want her to stop talking s**t about our family. Since the last eight months she has been running a malicious campaign against us on twitter. She claims I am a drug peddler, my daughter Sana is an addict, my son is a murderer and Zarina is a home-breaker." Sooraj Pancholi will be making his Bollywood launch with the Salman Khan produced, Hero. While Salman had reportedly spoken to Sooraj about his relationship, the actor is not involved in the legalities. Aditya refused that it was not Salman's idea to file the suit, "But we did keep him in the loop."

Aditya Pancholi even revealed to Mumbai Mirror as to what Rabia Khan replied in the legal notice, Aditya said, "She replied to the legal notice through her lawyer saying, "Aditya's reputation is well known in the industry and needs no comments. Lethargic investigation helped Sooraj to stay in the jail for fewer days." This is nothing but character assassination. It made our blood boil."

More than a year has passed by since Bollywood actress Jiah Khan was found dead at her Mumbai residence. While initially it looked like Jiah had attempted suicide, her mother, Rabia Khan has since then trying to bring together proofs to ascertain the actual reason of her death. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the Aditya Pancholi and his family had filed a Rs 100-crore defamation suit against Jiah Khan's mother Rabia.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the suit filed by Aditya Pancholi, his wife Zarina Wahab and their daughter Sana alleges that Rabia has been posting comments on micro blogging site, twitter to defame their family. Hearing their application seeking to restrain Rabia from making further defamatory comments, Justice SC Gupte issued a notice to Rabia. The defamation suit reportedly amounts to loss of reputation and goodwill to the Pancholis at Rs 50 crore, damages for loss of business at Rs 25 crore and for mental agony and harassment at another Rs 25 crore.

Rabia Khan has been very active on social networking site twitter and was much broken after the death of her daughter. According to the Mumbai Mirror report, the suit filed by the Pancholi family stated that Rabia has over 5,700 followers on Twitter and highlighted 18 tweets posted between March 4 and May 1 as defamatory. In these tweets, Rabia had made personal comments against the three family members. In her June 20 reply to the legal notice, Rabia through her advocate Dinesh Tiwari said she stood by her statements and alleged that even their family has been making defamatory comments against her.

Rabia Khan has been trying hard to collect evidence to prove that Jiah Khan was indeed murdered and that she had not committed suicide. Recently the case was also transferred to the CBI for further investigation. Being active on micro blogging site twitter, Rabia even posted several pictures of her daughter's dead body and has even taken forensic help on the case. Sooraj was initially arrested for allegedly abetting her suicide but was later released on bail.

On June 3, 2013, Jiah Khan was found hanging in her apartment. It came as a shocker for the industry as Jiah was only 25 years old. It was the loss of yet another young soul. Jiah had worked with several big names in the industry. She made her debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Nishabd and subsequently was seen with Aamir Khan in Ghajini and Akshay Kumar in Housefull. A lot of theories were doing the rounds that Jiah Khan was depressed because of her personal and professional life.
