If everybody likes you, it means you are boring

Before the release of ‘Udta Punjab’, Alia addressed the criticism that comes her way along with the praises. In an interview with Bombay Times, she said, I believe that with positive there has to be negative. If there is no negative, then it's very boring and that means that you're a boring person. If everybody likes you it means that you are super boring. There has to be somebody who does not like you. I am very happy that there are people who don't like me. I am even happier when I convert the dislikes to likes. Well, when it comes to my work, I don't get defensive about criticism that comes my way. If it is something that will hurt me then it will hurt me, but I won't get defensive about it. I'll never say that you're wrong; I'll say' okay I have messed up. Of course, I will sulk for 15 minutes, but then I will be up and about again.”

How are women deemed “ashudh” when they're menstruating?

In an interview with the Times of India, Alia addressed a number of conditions that are imposed on Indian women. She raised an important point when she pointed out the unfair nature of ostracizing menstruating women. She said, “My third concern is over girls not being allowed to enter shrines when they're menstruating. No conditions must apply there. How are women deemed ashudh when they're bleeding? It's beyond ridiculous. Don't people know why we bleed? It's a sign that we have the ability to give birth to another life. Disallowing women to enter temples during their periods angers me. It's absurd because it's the rule of nature. There's nothing wrong with you, girls. It's just a thought process that needs to change."

Let and let live

When Alia was asked for her views on intolerance, she made a sharp, intelligent and mature statement to say the least. Alia was asked why she evades talking about political and sensitive issues, especially celebrities talking about 'growing intolerance', she said she doesn't find it important to give her opinion on every topic although she is very well abreast about what's happening in the society. "It is a hyper-opinionated time even about these opinions, so I am not doing anybody any harm by giving one less opinion. Why should I crowd the world with my opinions? Live and let live. That’s it. Let people have their own opinions and you just keep yours to yourself. There are too many opinions — some unnecessary, some great, some ridiculously stupid so I think I rather not say anything and keep my opinions to myself. I have an opinion, I know what my thoughts are but I keep them to myself," she stated matter-of-factly.

Credit my popularity to jokes

Alia Bhatt has been trolled many times after she goofed up in the rapid fire round on Karan Johar’s TV chat show, ‘Koffee With Karan’. While many jokes have been cracked at her expense, the actress said that she has learnt to deal with it. Alia has been quoted as saying that she has decided to take it in her stride and move on. She asserts that she won’t let it affect her forever. She even said that she credits a lot of her popularity to these jokes.

Best way to get over a breakup

When it comes to matters of the heart, Bollywood stars are not very different from us mere mortals. Alia Bhatt opened up on heartbreaks and how she deals with them. The 'Dear Zindagi' actress said that she has experienced heartache in the past and in her opinion, the best way to get over a partner is by taking off on a holiday alone. However, when asked if she had her heart broken in the recent times, Alia simply replied in the negative. Interestingly, this came close on the heels of her alleged boyfriend Sidharth Malhotra's appearance at her sister Shaheen's birthday bash.
