Hollywood remakes that failed at the Box Office

Many of our known and popular Bollywood movies are actually a remake of Hollywood movies. It might come as a surprise that ace films like 'Satte Pe Satta', 'Baazigar', 'Chachi 420', 'Sarkar', 'Black', 'Joh Jeeta Wohi Sikander' and a few more are not original Bollywood movies but a remake. We compile a list of those Hollywood remakes which failed at the box office as Bollywood films.

'Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke'

This Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan movie is a remake of the 1995 Hollywood film 'A Walk in the Clouds' and the 1998 Tamil film, 'Pooveli'. The movie didn't do well both critically and commercially and had a poor performance at the ticket windows. Despite featuring Bollywood's A listers in the movie, it failed to impress the audience.

'Kyo Kii.. Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta'

Govinda starrer 'Kyo Kii.. Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta' is loosely based on Jim Carry's Hollywood film 'Liar Lair'. The movie shares a few elements from the movie such as Govinda being a compulsive liar like Carrey's character and his son wishing that his dad would stop lying. It is also inspired by superhit Marathi movie 'Dhangad Dhinga' and Rakesh Roshan's 'Kaamchor'. The film had a lukewarm response at the box office.

'God Tussi Great Ho'

Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'God Tussi Great Ho' is a remake of Jim Carrey and Jennifer Aniston's 'Bruce Almighty'. The original film was praised all over and is one of the most watched movies of Hollywood. However, the Bollywood version of the movie failed badly and bombed at the box office. Despite featuring Salman, Priyanka and Big B in the film, the movie was poorly received by the audience.

'Action Replayy'

Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's 'Action Replay' that also starred Aditya Roy Kapur in a pivotal role is a remake of the 1985 film 'Back to the Future'. However, the director Vipul Shah insisted that it is an adaptation of a Gujarati play of the same name and by H. G. Wells' 'The Time Machine'. The film is considered to be Akshay Kumar's one of the worst openings. Despite being a Diwali release, the film didn't do well and was declared as a flop at the box office.

'Kucch Toh Hai'

This Ekta Kapoor production was a remake of Hollywood's superhit 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'. However, the film failed to reach the expectations and bombed at the box office. It was declared as a flop and was indeed a poor remake of a Hollywood film.
