Films that showcase Bollywood's love for Paris

Being one of the most romantic cities in the world, Paris has long been on the list of filmmakers when it comes to choosing a backdrop for a love story. Well, Bollywood's love for The City of Light has been showcased time and again through a host of films capturing the innate beauty of the city.
From 'An Evening in Paris' to 'Befikre', here's taking a look at La Ville Lumière through Bollywood's love-struck eyes.

'Befikre'

Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor grabbed all the attention in the film 'Befikre' with their no strings attached relationship. Showcasing a love story set in the love city of Paris, the film was totally magical. 'Befikre' features prominent sites in Paris, including the Pont des Arts bridge, Montmartre, Trocadero and the library of the City Hall. Paris' myriad personalities are showcased with élan in the Ranveer-Vani starrer and tempt you to plan your next sojourn in the dazzling city.

'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'

Trust Karan Johar to offer you the best visual treat through his lens. KJo makes you live your dreams through 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', as he takes you through all the epic locations in Paris. The film explores the quirky, whacky and artsy side of this romantic city. From the unique boutique hotel Ranbir and Anushka stay at, to the cobbled streets of Paris’ quarters that they prance around, 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' depicts Paris like never before in Bollywood, and the city’s alternative vibe will tempt you to pack your bags and jet off.
4/7

'Queen'

Vikas Bahl’s coming-of-age comedy-drama 'Queen' revolves around a young Punjabi girl who discovers herself on a solo trip to Paris and Amsterdam after her wedding is called off. Like any other girl, Kangana Ranaut chose the romantic city of Paris for her honeymoon and saved up for this day. But the story portrays a twist when her wedding gets cancelled by the groom and she visits Paris for her 'solo honeymoon'. 'Queen' showcases the beauty of the city, the love, the struggle and everything that Kangana faces on her solo trip.
5/7

'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'

'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' has to be one of the most loved films by the audience. Ranbir Kapoor, who is a travel photographer in the latter part of the film is seen exploring the dazzling streets of Paris. From romancing on Rue Mouffetard, one of the most vibrant and oldest neighbourhoods in Paris, to gazing up the Eiffel Tower, Ranbir covers the city of lights in all its glory. Watching him muse on the bridge across the River Seine, against the dynamic panorama of the city, makes you want to jet off to Paris immediately.

'London Dreams'

Salman Khan-Ajay Devgn-Asin starrer 'London Dreams' (2009) saw Salman wooing Asin on the streets of Paris in front of historic locations such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre in the song 'Man Ko Aati Bhave'. Incidentally, when the number was being shot, the then French President Nicolas Sarkozy had just won the six-month presidency of the EU, and to celebrate this momentous occasion, the entire Eiffel Tower was lit up in blue and gold which was an extremely rare sight.

'An Evening In Paris'

Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore broke tons of norms with the movie 1967 movie 'An Evening In Paris'. The film clearly was ahead of its times and more so than not it was probably the first time that an Indian audience got to see the beauty of Paris in a film. Director Shakti Samanta shot his romantic drama in the French capital at a time when outdoor locations were a rare sight in Hindi cinema, going to the extent of making sure the Eiffel Tower played an important role in the climax.
