Urmila Matondkar to stage a comeback with ‘Bewafa Beauty’ song in Irrfan Khan’s ‘Blackmail’

‘Rangeela’ actress Urmila Matondkar is all set to return to the silver screen after a hiatus of sorts. Urmila will be seen shaking a leg to the song ‘Bewafa Beauty’ in Irrfan Khan starrer ‘Blackmail’. The ‘Chamma Chamma’ girl, who mesmerized all with her moves and acting displays, is back in a sizzling avatar. Crooned by Pawni Pandey and composed by Amit Trivedi, ‘Bewafa Beauty’ has quirky lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

When asked about his choice of actress for the special number, director Abhinay Deo explained, “Urmila is a massive star. She is not an item girl. We wanted a performer, someone who had a tremendous star value but hadn’t been seen on the silver screen for a while now. From all the names we came up with, I believe we picked the best. She fit the bill perfectly. She is gorgeous and incredible as a dancer. It ended up being a perfect match for the song and the film.”

Bollywood celebrities making a comeback

After two failed comeback attempts, Kajol got a third chance when hubby Ajay Devgn bought the rights of the 2014 Malayalam hit How Old Are You (Mumbai Mirror, October 18). The actress who has been on a break since the birth of the couple's son, Yug, in 2010, was to topline the cast of its Hindi remake. Mumbai Mirror had reported (November 12, 2014) that Kajol's comeback vehicle has run into a limbo. Ajay Devgn wanted Ashwini Dheer, of Son of Sardaar fame, to helm the project. But the director of the original, Rosshan Andrrews who holds the 'first right' to direct any remake of the film, was not willing to budge. The latest, as reported in Mumbai Mirror, is that the final round of talks with Andrrews has fallen through and Ajay has finally decided to let go of the project. The tabloid quoted Andrrews, “I don't know why Ajay sir was so stuck on Dheer. Kumar Mangat (Ajay's confidante) fixed up my meeting with him and I flew down to Mumbai where I had a cordial meeting with Ajay. Now, I am directing the Tamil remake with Jyothika in the lead. Her husband Surya has bought the rights of all the future remakes. We might also collaborate with a studio on the Hindi remake. Besides Ajay, many filmmakers have shown interest in the project and we are hoping to put the Hindi remake on floors soon."

Earlier, Kajol was set to return to the big screen with a film which was an Indian adaptation of the Dutch TV series Penoza. Prior to that, the actress had considered Rensil D'Silva's 27-episode fiction show (Mirror, December 28, 2013), which revolved around a single mother living in a joint family in Delhi. But the actress demanded too high a premium which the channel wasn't willing to cough up.
