Madhuri finally attained stardom after a series of consecutive flops when she landed the lead female role as Mohini in N. Chandra's blockbuster 'Tezaab' opposite Anil Kapoor. After the astounding success of the movie, Madhuri and Anil shared a sizzling chemistry on-screen and according to reports, their off-screen chemistry was great too! After ‘Tezaab’, they starred in a string of hits like ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Jamai Raja’, ‘Kishen Kanhaiya’ and ‘Beta’ to name a few. Anil promoted Madhuri heavily and they shared a common secretary – Rakesh Nath (Rikoo). Soon Madhuri was known as a part of the Kapoor clan. In fact, she never even acted with Amitabh Bachchan at that time as Anil was considered a rival to Mr. Bachchan at the time.

After Anil Kapoor, Madhuri's sizzling chemistry with Sanjay Dutt mesmerized audiences. Apparently, their fondness for each other grew on the sets of 'Saajan'. Fortunately, the success of the movie helped them to boost their relationship. However, Madhuri's father objected over this bond since Sanjay was already married to Richa Sharma. Richa was battling cancer in the US and Madhuri lent Sanju a friendly shoulder during this trying time. Crew members alleged that she often visited him on his films sets and they would spend hours with each other. Nevertheless, Sanjay's TADA arrest took the relationship to its unfortunate end.

Although Madhuri’s pairing with ‘King Khan’ Shah Rukh in Anjaam couldn’t create ripples at the Box-Office, when they both reunited for Yash Raj Films' super-hit ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, their passionate and charming romance on screen made them perfect lovebirds amongst  fans. Many even hailed them as love icons for the young generation. Madhuri’s portrayal of a young woman faced with a moral dilemma even fetched her a fourth Filmfare Best Actress Award and the movie became the second highest grosser of the year.

Madhuri’s chemistry with Salman has been on display in a number of films like ‘Saajan’ and ‘Dil Tera Aashiq’ but ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun!’ amazingly created history in Indian cinema. Overnight, Salman and Madhuri’s romantic posters started throning the bedroom walls of the youth and they both turned out to be an iconic romantic couple. Madhuri’s mischievous, strong-minded and independent girl’s role in the movie again fetched her the Filmfare Best Actress Award. Madhuri still maintains a friendship with Salman and believes that he deserves the success he has today. Recently she revealed that she would really want to work with him if there's a good script.

In 1990, Madhuri starred in the super-hit ‘Dil’ opposite Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan. Though Aamir was not as famous as he is today, yet his on-screen chemistry with Madhuri was liked and admired by one and all. Some critics even claimed that there probably hasn't been another youthful couple who looked so damn good on the screen. Young college goers followed their fashion trends and the movie’s songs were a great medium to express love. As a result, the film became the biggest Box-Office hit of the year in India. Few journals even claimed that Madhuri in fact saved Aamir's career. However, in ‘Deewana Mujh Sa Nahin’ both failed to recreate the same magic.
