Divya Kumar took 18 months to cast for 'Yaariyan'

Divya Khosla Kumar, who makes her directorial debut with 'Yaariyan', ensured that no effort was spared as far as her maiden venture is concerned. For example, she took a year and a half to finalise the cast of the film, which is produced by Bhushan Kumar.
The movie, which is about the trials and tribulations of a group of youngsters — Himansh Kohli, Rakul Preet, Dev Sharma, Shreyas Pardiwalla and Nicole Faria, also features Deepti Naval and Gulshan Grover.

Since she had 20 characters in the 21-22 age group and could not find many in the existing lot of actors, Divya decided to cast new faces. “Since many of them were facing the camera for the first time, I ensured we had acting workshops for about a year,” says she.

Himansh and Rakul, the lead actors, said the workshops not only made them better actors, but also helped the team bond.
