Will Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Dhawan do a cameo in 'Munjya'? Director Aditya Sarpotdar addresses fan theories

'Stree', starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, set a trend for horror-comedies in Bollywood. It was followed by Roohi and Bhediya, inspired by the Yapum legend in Arunachal Pradesh. Now, the fourth film, Munjya, is set to release. It features a CGI character and is based on the Indian folklore legend of Munjya.

For those unknown, all the films in this universe are interconnected through characters and themes. In Bhediya, Abhishek Banerjee, Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, and Aparshakti Khurana reprise their roles from Stree. Stree 2, set to release in August this year, will feature Varun Dhawan reprising his character from Bhediya.

When the trailer of 'Munjya', featuring Mona Singh, Sharvari, and Abhay Verma, was unveiled, fan theories quickly emerged. Viewers noticed a character named Munni in the trailer, leading to speculation that it could be a cameo by Shraddha Kapoor. Interestingly, the name of Shraddha's character in Stree remains a mystery.

Speculation about Varun Dhawan's involvement in 'Munjya' intensified after Sharvari posted a picture with him, captioned, "Bhediya wants to know who is #Munjya’s Munni." This led to various fan theories, but it appears that answers are forthcoming.

Talking to In News18, 'Munjya' director Aditya Sarpotdar clarified that there’s no connection between his film and 'Stree'. Addressing the fan theories, Aditya noted that many believed 'Munjya' to be a prequel or sequel to 'Stree 2' or part of a separate 'Stree' universe. He explained that creating a prequel or sequel to a hit film is challenging, and 'Munjya' is neither. While there could be connections within his films, viewers will only discover those upon watching.
