When Sonam Kapoor revealed that she worked as a waitress in a Chinese restaurant at 15

Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor is celebrated not only for her distinctive fashion choices but also for her candid approach to life. The actress once shared an anecdote from her teenage years, revealing how she worked as a waitress at a Chinese restaurant to earn some pocket money.

While attending a show, Simi Selects India's Most Desirable, years ago, Sonam revealed that, at just 15 years old, she took up the job while living in Singapore, where she was pursuing her studies in theatre and the arts at the United World College of South-East Asia. The revelation shocked many, as she is the daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, while many appreciated her efforts and self-esteem at such a young age.


This experience marked the beginning of her work ethic and determination. Years before making her mark in Bollywood, Sonam had a brief stint as an assistant director with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Black', a film that starred Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji. Following this, she made her acting debut opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Bhansali’s 'Saawariya'. Over the years, Sonam's career has flourished, with notable performances in films such as 'Neerja', 'Veere Di Wedding', 'Aisha', 'Sanju', and 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga'.

Currently, Sonam is residing in London with her husband, Anand Ahuja, and their son, Vayu. Her most recent project was the 2023 thriller 'Blind', directed by Shome Makhija.

Sonam recently confirmed that she will be doing 'Battle of Bittora' next year, which will be produced by Rhea Kapoor. The movie is an adaptation of the novel by Anuja Chauhan.
