Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away on Sunday morning, stayed unmarried all her life. Although alleged link-up reports were doing the rounds from time to time, the legendary singer maintained a dignified silence on them.

In an old interview with a news portal, Mangeshkar was asked if she had any special person in her life. Responding to the same, the singer had said that there are some things that only the heart knows and she would like to keep it that way.

Elaborating further, the veteran singer also spoke about people's notions that a woman is incomplete unless she is married and has children. According to her, people talk all sorts of things so one should learn to ignore them. Else, it’ll be difficult to lead a happy life. She added that energies that are negative and depressing should be kept at bay. She has always done that.

The legendary singer also referred to an interview where Aamir Khan’s ex wife Kiran Rao had talked about the same thing. She had said it is important to first find happiness and a sense of fulfilment within yourself, else the dream of being fulfilled only through

marriage

or children loses its significance.

The legendary singer was admitted to the hospital after being tested positive for the novel Coronavirus earlier in January. She was on the ventilator for weeks but then on January 28, she was taken off the ventilator as she showed signs of improvement. Unfortunately, again her health condition deteriorated, and she was put back on the ventilator under the close observation of the doctors.

Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating her at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, told ANI, "It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post COVID19."

Her mortal remains will be taken to the Shivaji Park for people to pay homage.
