Vikram Vedha, Super 30, Mohenjo Daro: Hrithik Roshan's quirky characters

Hrithik Roshan has played a wide variety characters throughout his career. He's played everything from a superhero to a mentally handicapped boy to a super soldier. But, there have been a few characters that have really surprised the audiences and almost all of these roles have featured Hrithik in a character that is totally unlike his real and reel-life persona. Here's looking at the five characters that really surprised Hrithik's fans.

2/6

Vikram Vedha

It's not the first time that Hrithik has played a role with a grey shade and adopted an accent that's a far cry from his usual polished self. But playing Vedha, the unusual UP gangster with a homage to the Betaal character from the Vikram-Betaal folklore stories, has been a real unique proposition. His performance has largely been appreciated by both the masses and critics, which is a feat in itself.

3/6

Super 30

Super 30 featured Hrithik playing the real-life hero Anand Kumar with consummate ease. What was most striking was the fact that, he played a rustic character with a heavy Bihari accent, a farcry from his Greek God image. Yet, Hrithik managed to pull off the bronzed, unkempt look with conviction. It was an achievement that he managed to steer clear of cliches and unflattering comparisons.

4/6

Kaabil

Possibly the most polished character on this entire list, Kaabil featured Hrithik playing a blind man, albiet a self-sufficient and dangerous one at that. What stood out in this particular portrayal from Hrithik was the fact that he managed to bring in vulnerability and confidence all at once. The surprise element here was the fact that Hrithik was able to bring in a plethora of emotions ranging from helplessness to extreme self-assured confidence, all within a single performance of barely 2 hours.

5/6

Mohenjo Daro

Mohenjo Daro was a film based during the ancient times if early civilization, when culture, technology and commerce were still blooming ideas. In a uniquely different space, Hrithik played an ancient Indian in a distinctly different adventure. Despite the screenplay and treatment inconsistencies, it was Hrithik's measured performance that lent credibility to this film. Again, he proved that playing rustic characters is definitely one of his strengths.

6/6

Guzaarish

While Hrithik is no stranger to playing characters with handicaps and challenges, his portrayal of a paraplegic person was in a totally different league. The credible aspect of this performance came from the fact that he was portraying intense emotions with both mental and physical deterioration and all through, he looked authentic and pitch perfect. Not to mention, this role was originally played by Javier Bardem and Hrithik's iteration was just as impressive.
