Vedang Raina shared a special memory of working with A. R. Rahman during an appearance on the Indian Idol stage. The actor and singer said he received a voice note from the Oscar-winning composer while they were creating music for Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film 'Main Vaapas Aaunga'. Vedang called the note one of the most precious things on his phone and said it captured Rahman shaping the song’s melody on the piano.

According to IANS, Vedang spoke about collaborating with A. R. Rahman for 'Main Vaapas Aaunga' and said it was his first time meeting the composer in person on the Indian Idol stage.
He said, “Mujhe mauka mila unke composition mai gaane ke liye (I got the opportunity to sing in his composition), mere is project mein (in this project of mine). Today is the first time I have met Rahman sir at the Indian Idol stage. Iske pehle ek gaana toh create kiya hai (Before this, we have created one song), lekin hum FaceTime pe baat kar rahe the (but we were speaking on FaceTime), we communicated through that.”
The actor explained that the team had already created a song before they met face-to-face. He said they discussed the track over FaceTime and worked through those calls before sharing the stage.
'Main Vaapas Aaunga' song memory
Vedang then opened up about the voice note that stayed with him. He said, “In fact, I just want to say that I received a voice note jaha pe sir piano pe baja ke bas humm kar rahe the jo is gaane ki melody hai (where sir was playing on the piano and just humming the melody of this song). That is one of the most precious things that I have in my phone.”
He also described how the melody sounded as Rahman shaped it. Vedang said, “He just hums to that song, and you can tell that the genius is at work and he is putting it on the keys and it’s coming through his voice. Aur vo matlab gaana bana bhi nahi hoga (And that means the song probably was not even made yet), shayad vaha pe create hua hoga vo melody (perhaps that melody was created there), lekin it’s just so beautiful and I hold that very dearly to me.”
He thanked Rahman for the chance to sing his composition and added, “And thank you, sir, for complimenting us, it really, really means a lot, and thank you for this opportunity.”
'Main Vaapas Aaunga' stars Vedang Raina, Sharvari Wagh and Naseeruddin Shah in key roles. Imtiaz Ali directs the film, which is set to release on June 12.
