Varun Dhawan regrets his childhood rejection of Shraddha Kapoor, and recalls how she arranged for her admirers to beat him up

Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor, two Bollywood stars from celebrated film families, share a friendship that dates back to their childhood. However, their journey from childhood companions to co-stars is filled with humorous and endearing moments, including Varun's early rejection of Shraddha’s childhood crush.

During an interview with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra, Varun revealed how Shraddha, at just eight years old, confessed her feelings for him during a film shoot. Much to her dismay, young Varun turned her down, leading to a comical episode where Shraddha “arranged” for him to be beaten up by some of her admirers.


Recalling an incident, Varun said, “It was Shraddha’s tenth birthday party. She was wearing a frock, and we were playing in a jumping bag. Suddenly, four boys surrounded me, asking, ‘Why don’t you like Shraddha?’ I was focused on a dance competition and didn’t know what to say. They started fighting with me, and it became a filmy scene. I fought back and even won the dance competition, where Shraddha came third.”

Years later, during their teenage years, Varun’s perspective on Shraddha changed. The two reconnected at a dandiya event at Shraddha’s school, where Varun participated despite attending a different institution. It was during this event that he saw Shraddha in a new light.

“When Shraddha became a teenager, she had become extremely beautiful. At her school’s dandiya event, I was trying to escape after accidentally hitting someone with a dandiya stick. Amidst the chaos, I saw Shraddha walking in slow motion. She looked stunning that day, and for the first time, I regretted rejecting her years ago,” Varun admitted.

Although they began as childhood frenemies, the duo eventually became close friends. Varun humorously described their relationship as a “huge story” and urged viewers to ask Shraddha what happened next.

Today, Varun and Shraddha’s camaraderie extends to the silver screen, with their on-screen chemistry shining in films like 'ABCD 2' and 'Street Dancer 3D.'. Varun also made a cameo in Shraddha's Stree 2.
