After delivering one of his best films, ‘Badlapur’ with director
Sriram Raghavan,
Varun Dhawan is all set to collaborate with the filmmaker once again for his next, ‘Ekkis’. The filmmaker has already started prepping for the movie that is based on the youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient, Arun Khetarpal.
In an interview with Filmfare, producer
Dinesh Vijan reportedly said that Varun has been super excited for the film and the director too is leaving no stone unturned in the preparations.
"Sriram has a separate office because he needed a much bigger space. If you go to his office, you will feel you're entering a war zone. I have never seen a director prep so much," Vijan said.
Talking about Varun being part of the movie, he added, 'Varun called me this morning and said that I have never been more excited and sure about a film than this. It's nice to feel that way. Varun is the right guy for the film.”
The producer further indulged into the details of how he came up with the idea of making a film on Arun Khetarpal. He said, "A friend of mine told me the story then. We got the rights. We narrated it to Sriram. It's the first time that Sriram is going to take an outside subject. It's a father-son story and Sriram got very emotional. He loved it."
Meanwhile, on the work front, Varun will next be seen in father David Dhawan's official remake of 'Coolie No. 1'. He will be seen sharing screen space with
Sara Ali Khan for the first time in the movie.
While Varun will be stepping into the shoes of Govinda in the movie, Sara will be seen essaying Karisma Kapoor's role in the remake.
The movie is slated to hit the theatres on May 1, 2020.
