Unseen photos of young Shah Rukh Khan from his theater days resurface, offering a rare glimpse before stardom

The nostalgic wave was sparked by Amar Talwar, Shah Rukh Khan’s old friend from Barry John’s Theatre Action Group (TAG). On May 1, 2025, earlier this year, Talwar took fans down memory lane by sharing unseen photos of SRK on Instagram. These pictures, taken in the early 1990s, capture the actor before his Bollywood journey began, long before ‘Deewana’ or ‘Baazigar’ made him a household name.

Amar Talwar shared three stunning monochrome photographs showcasing SRK’s natural charm. In one, a young Shah Rukh flashes his signature smile, his eyes brimming with warmth and energy. Another captures him candidly holding a vintage Pentax camera, revealing his curiosity behind the lens. The third image shows him cradling Talwar’s son, Tally, dressed casually in light-washed denim and a loose shirt—already radiating that effortless 90s charm.

Sharing the pictures, Amar Talwar reminisced, “Going through my old pics, I came across these I’d clicked of Shah Rukh Khan with my son, around 1990, before his departure for Bollywood.” He fondly recalled their theatre collaborations in plays like ‘Rough Crossing,’ ‘Whose Life Is It Anyway,’ and ‘Lend Me A Tenor.’ Talwar revealed that by the time he was cast in Shah Rukh’s intended role for the last play, SRK had already left for Mumbai—and the rest, as he said, “is history.”

The photos gained traction quickly; in response, the comments filled with love and nostalgia were warranted. There are comments reflecting it being "a beautiful gift" and a "glimpse of golden days." From several television shows such as 'Fauji' and 'Circus' to films like 'Darr' and 'Baazigar,' Shah Rukh Khan remains one of the most inspirational success stories in Indian cinema.
