#TeachersDay2021: 5 Times Bollywood Films gave us the best on-screen teachers

Bollywood has done its bit by crafting stories and movies which often reflect on the teacher-student bonding from school days. These movies crack us up with moments of nostalgia and make us smile. While scrolling through our photo albums today, we came across these beautiful movies, where these on-screen teachers became our role models.

2/6

Aamir Khan : Taare Zameen Par

Aamir Khan as Ram Shankar Nikumbh is one of our most favourite teachers. Right from delivering an important message of ‘every child is special’ to normalising a disorder like ‘dyslexia’, the movie is full of emotions. Ram Sir not only makes the boy overcome his disability by adopting unconventional teaching methods but also changes the attitude of his parents towards him.

3/6

Rani Mukerji : Hichki

An Indian adaptation of Brad Cohen's autobiography, 'Front of the Class', ;Hichki’ brings us closer to Naina Mathur’s story. Essayed by Rani Mukerji, Naina is a teacher suffering from Tourette Syndrome, who turns this weakness into her biggest strength by teaching a group of underprivileged kids from an elite school. Helmed by Siddharth P Malhotra, the movie was extremely loved and lauded by audiences and critics alike.

4/6

Rajkummar Rao : ‘Chhalaang’

Rajkummar Rao’s portrayal of Montu -- a PT teacher determined to train his kids for the inter-house competition, allowed us to travel back in time and relive our school days. It’s true that watching the kids perform, train and practice felt like being gifted with moments of nostalgia. Helmed by Hansal Mehta, the movie completely allows us to relive memories from one of the most loved classes from our school - PT (Physical Training).

5/6

Shahid Kapoor : Paathshala

Back in 2010, Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Paathshala’ conveyed a very important message on the Indian education system and its shortcomings. The movie portrays Shahid as Rahul Udyavar -- a new English teacher at school striking an instant rapport with students and teachers alike. He soon stands up to the management along with the kids, when the school management becomes overambitious with monetary gain rather than the kids.

6/6

Hrithik Roshan : Super 30

In Super 30, Hrithik Roshan plays the role of Anand Kumar -- an Indian mathematician who quits his job as a teacher in a top coaching centre to teach underprivileged children. Anand indeed battles against all odds to bring out the best in his kids, by providing all the support and strength, so that his students get a seat in the coveted IITs.
