Tatas to co-produce Amitabh starrer

MUMBAI: Corporate giant Tata Group has entered the film production sector, with its company Tata Infomedia Ltd co-producing a big-budget movie starring megastar Amitabh Bachchan and model turned actress Bipasha Basu of Raaz fame.

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">MUMBAI: Corporate giant Tata Group has entered the film production sector, with its company Tata Infomedia Ltd (TIL) co-producing a big-budget movie starring megastar Amitabh Bachchan and model turned actress Bipasha Basu of <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Raaz</span> fame.<br />Titled <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Aitbaar</span>, this maiden Tata venture would be directed by Vikram Bhatt and produced under the banner of Cutting Edge Entertainment, a new division set up by Tata Infomedia specially for the purpose.<br />The shooting of the film, which is slated for a mid-2003 release, had been delayed due to financial difficulties faced by co-producer Jatin Kumar, son of noted film-maker and actor Sujit Kumar.<br />"We were impressed with the script and its storyline and when the opportunity to make the project arose, we quickly opted to produce it with Jatin Kumar", Tata Infomedia vice chairman and managing director H S Billimoria said in a release here.<br />He said <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Aitbaar</span> was a romantic story, which also featured model John Abraham.<br />Popular music director Rajesh Roshan would compose the music for the film.<br />However, the company has not disclosed the production cost of the film.<br />Cutting Edge Entertainment, headed by Mandeep Singh, was also developing other scripts for future Tata projects and expects to have three to four films on the floor within a short period, the release said.

<br />In April 2002, the company had decided to venture into film production.<br />Referring to making funds available for this business, Billimoria had said that Tata Infomedia was a debt free and cash rich entity with investments of Rs 40 crore in inter-corporate deposits and mutual funds. </div> </div>
