Bollywood actress Preity Zinta has filed a case against the family of late filmmaker Shandaar Amrohi to recover an amount of Rs 2 crore as compensation for the money she spent in resolving his property dispute. The actress was apparently very close to the late filmmaker, who treated her like his daughter. However, a report in
Indian Express says that Shaandar Amrohi's brother Tajdar feels that they do not owe any money to the actress.
He clears the air and says that his brother had already paid Rs 6.5 crores as
income tax and if the actress wanted her money back, she should have asked Shaandar then.
He feels that Preity should have asked her money from his ailing brother before and not two-and-a-half years after his death. He also tells
Indian Express that his brother took the actress as his daughter and wanted to make her his rightful heir. However, Preity generously refused any offer. Now why is she asking for money back, questions Tajdar.
The report adds that Tajdar had called Preity to invite her over for lunch last month but she never returned his call. However, he expresses disappointment on Preity’s claim for compensation for helping an ailing man to claim something that was rightfully his.
