Taal

One of Anil Kapoor's most memorable performances is his supporting role as Vikrant Kapoor in Taal. However, here's a fun twist: before Anil took on the part opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, it was actually his Deewana Mastana co-star, Govinda, who was offered the role! Govinda passed on the opportunity due to scheduling conflicts and disagreements over pay. Celebrating the 23rd anniversary of Taal, Anil revealed on Instagram that this iconic role was initially meant for Govinda. Interestingly, it was Anil's performance in Taal that caught the eye of director Danny Boyle, leading to an offer for a role in Slumdog Millionaire!

Slumdog Millionaire

Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire garnered international acclaim and snagged multiple Academy Awards. Interestingly, Govinda was initially offered the role of the quiz show host, Prem Kumar, but he decided to pass on the opportunity. Ultimately, Anil Kapoor stepped into the role, adding his own flair to the iconic character!

Devdas

Govinda was initially offered the role of Chunnilal in Devdas, a part that ultimately went to Jackie Shroff. In an interview with India TV, he explained his decision to decline the role, stating that he was “a superstar” at the time and questioned why Sanjay Leela Bhansali would approach him for a “character role.” However, he expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan, calling him a nice person, while also highlighting that they have yet to share screen space.

Chandni

Another blockbuster that slipped through Govinda's fingers was Yash Chopra's Chandni, where he was approached for the role of Rohit Gupta, opposite Sridevi.
