Shreyas turns producer
Wondering where Shreyas Talpade is post Om Shanti Om?
Well, hes currently shooting for Subhash Ghais Paying Guest. Hes also completed shooting for three other films, which are ready for release this year Golmaal Returns, Shyam Benegals Mahadev Ka Sajjanpur and a horror flick, Click.
I dont like monotony in my life, especially my career.

I try to choose as many varied roles as possible, says Shreyas. The rate at which films are being made today, its important to give the audience variety. Besides, as an actor, I like freshness, he says. And in this quest for freshness, Shreyas stumbled upon a Marathi script, which he decided to co-produce with Ghai. Its like Subhash Ghai has the world wide rights of Shreyas Talpade! the actor-turned-producer quips.
More seriously, he says, It was my way of showing my gratitude to the Marathi industry, which helped me reach where I am today. An actor always has production and directorial ambitions. I got that opportunity early in my career and I took it up, he says.
Shreyas isnt sure about making another film under his banner in the near future, but is thrilled with the response his debut production, Sanai Choughade has received throughout Maharashatra. Its a huge responsibility, especially because we introduced a fresh genre to Marathi cinema. The industry has been caught up with slapstick comedy for long. We brought some romance and youthfulness to the audience. The actors are young, the treatment is slick, songs are peppy and the language is in the now. Maharashtra is double the size of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, but our film industry is not as huge. With this film we brought youngsters back to regional cinema. It worked, says Shreyas. We hear you.
