Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra recently hit headlines after the latter was arrested by the Mumbai Police on July 19 for a pornography case. Raj has been named the ‘key conspirator’ in the case. Raj and his partner Ryan Tharp were sent to judicial custody till July 23. Earlier, Mumbai Police Commissioner, Hemant Nagrale shared in a statement, ‘There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this.’ There were reports that he paid a bribe of Rs 25 lakh to the Crime Branch to avoid arrest. Raj Kundra’s old tweets from 2012 resurfaced on the internet soon after he got arrested. In his tweets, he had questioned why it was legal to pay someone for sex on camera, asking how prostitution was different from porn. He had tweeted, “Ok so here go's Porn Vs Prostitution. Why is it legal to pay someone for sex on camera? How is one different to the other??” while his other tweet read, “India: Actors are playing cricket, Cricketers are playing politics, Politicians are watching porn and Porn stars are becoming actors....!” Even his throwback Twitter exchange with Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane was reposted on social media.

Shilpa Shetty, who is quite active on social media, has shared a motivational post before her husband's arrest. Her post caught everyone’s attention. The post was captioned as, ''We may not always have the power to change what’s happening around us, but we can definitely control what happens within. That is possible only through Yoga. Give yourself the ability to calm the mind, reduce unwanted thoughts, centre your wandering attention, and improve your focus through Tratak Meditation ����‍♀️��''. On 22 July, Shilpa posted for the first time amid Raj’s case. Sharing a meaningful post, the actress wrote, “I take a deep breath, knowing that I'm lucky to be alive. I have survived challenges in the past and I will survive challenges in the future. Nothing need to distract me from living my life today.”

Raj Kundra’s arrest came as a shock to everyone. But after news broke of his arrest, Twitterati had a field day trolling him for the description in his Twitter bio. His bio reads, “'Life is about making the right choices' with an angel face emoticon. Netizens were quick to share the screenshot of his bio and troll him on social media.

Social media users were quick to share Raj Kundra’s book titled 'How Not To Make Money' that he authored. The users found the 'irony' while sharing tweets on his book. A Twitter user wrote, “Raj Kundra once wrote a book titled 'How Not to Make Money'. And he proved it” while another user wrote, “Raj Kundra once wrote a book titled "How Not to Make Money". I'm not even joking.” Even his throwback interview with Filmfare has caught everyone’s attention. He had said, “I come from a humble background. My dad moved to London 45 years ago and worked as a bus conductor whereas my mother worked in a factory. We never had it easy. I’m a self-made man since I left college at the age of 18. Whenever Shilpa checks me for spending carelessly, I tell her I have no qualms about enjoying the money I have made. My anger pushed me. I hated poverty so much that I wanted to become rich. And I did make a difference in my life. Shilpa respected me for that as she’s self-made too.”
