Shah Rukh Khan to Salman Khan: Actors who reprised their iconic roles in films

Sometimes, film characters are just too iconic to appear only once on celluloid. So when filmmakers decide to bring back some of these on-screen heavyweights, who better to play the part than the ones who gave them their 'icon' status?

From Shah Rukh Khan reprising his role as Raj, to Salman Khan returning as Prem, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, here's a look at Bollywood and Hollywood stars who have reprised their iconic roles in films.

Shah Rukh Khan

Before we get to see Shah Rukh Khan in a feature film, we will see him play a cameo in Aamir Khan’s film 'Laal Singh Chaddha'. Reports state that the actor will play his famed '90s character, Raj Malhotra, from 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge'. Fans can expect to see the actor in all his youthful glory as word doing the rounds stated that top-notch VFX will be used to bring back a baby-faced SRK on the big screen.

Salman Khan

Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, it has been reported that Salman Khan will also feature in the film as his iconic character Prem from 'Maine Pyar Kiya'. While he is said to be still in talks with Aamir for the film, this won't be the first time that Salman reprised his iconic roles on the big screen. Salman made a guest appearance in Varun Dhawan's ‘Judwaa 2’ as the original Raja and Prem.

Robert Downey Jr

Rumours are rife that actor Robert Downey Jr will be back as his iconic character 'Iron Man', aka Tony Stark in the upcoming Scarlett Johansson starrer 'Black Widow'. His character, however, will not be resurrected from the dead (in 'Avengers: Endgame') but will make a cameo as the film is set between the events of 'Captain America: Civil War' and 'Avengers: Infinity War'.

Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn created a niche for himself as the no-nonsense cop Bajirao Singham in director Rohit Shetty's superhit cop-franchise. The actor, who reprised his role in the Ranveer Singh starrer 'Simmba', will be back in action once again in 'Sooryavanshi', starring Akshay Kumar in the lead.

Ben Affleck

Just when we thought we'd seen the last of Ben Affleck as the brooding 'Batman', he will return as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming big-screen version of 'The Flash'. The movie, which is planned for release in 2022, will feature Ben fighting crime as the masked vigilante alongside Ezra Miller's character, Barry Allen.

Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill

Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, the stars of the original 'Jurassic Park' blockbuster – will join Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the new instalment 'Jurassic World 3'. The three actors will reprise their roles from the Steven Spielberg-directed dinosaur film, that released in 1993. While Goldblum played mathematician Ian Malcolm, Dern and Neill played paleontologist, Ellie Sattler and Alan Grant.

Sonu Sood

Sonu Sood immortalised the villain Chedi Singh in the Salman Khan starrer 'Dabangg'. The actor made for one menacing villain in the hit series and became exceedingly popular thereafter. It was no wonder then that the actor reprised his role and recreated the same magic in its Tamil remake 'Osthe'.

J.K. Simmons

J.K. Simmons' portrayal of the fan-favourite character J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s 'Spider-Man' is so beloved that Marvel Studios brought him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'. Now, Simmons is set to return as the character in the upcoming 'Spider-Man' film, starring Tom Holland in the lead.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

"I'll be back," is one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's most iconic dialogues from the 'Terminator' franchise. Hence, when the makers decided to reboot the series with 'Terminator: Dark Fate', the superstar returned with guns blazing as the famed cyborg assassin.
