Sanjay Dutt's furlough extension application rejected

According to latest update on Sanjay Dutt's furlough, Maharashtra government has rejected the actor's application asking for another 14-day extension. The actor has been asked to return to the Yerawada jail in Pune.

Actor Sanjay Dutt will leave for Pune shortly as the DIG prison has rejected his plea for extension of furlough. The order seen here says Dutt can avail of medical attention, if needed, in prison too. It said, hence, "as assured by you in your letter on January 8, 2015, return to the prison immediately".

The actor was on a 14-day furlough which ended on January 8 and had sought another two-week extension.

He is serving a five year prison term after his conviction under the Arms Act for illegal possession of an AK-56 rifle in 1993.

A furlough is a discretionary leave given to convicts every year to remain in touch with family and society. It requires no specific reason.
