Sam Manekshaw biopic, 'Pippa' to 'Tejas': War films to watch out for!

Every year, we get to see new films based on war. Bollywood stars leave fans impressed with their amazing acting skills by playing the roles perfectly in these films. Such movies are informative and give us a brief history of the past and also make us feel proud about the war heroes. After stellar films like 'Shershaah' and 'Uri', there are some more flicks lined up that will hit the screens either this year or next. Have a look!

'Tejas'

Kangana Ranaut who is recently making headlines for 'Thalaivii' is all set to impress fans with her next film, 'Tejas'. A few days back, she resumed the next shooting schedule of the film. Helmed by new director Sarvesh Mewara, the film will portray a fierce story that revolves around an Indian Air Force pilot, essayed by Kangana. The film is backed by the makers of Vicky Kaushal’s 'Uri: The Surgical Strike'. The film is being shot in different parts of India, including Delhi, Mumbai and Rajasthan.

'Ekkis'

Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan is all set to team up with Varun Dhawan for his upcoming movie Ekkis. The film is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra recipient Arun Khetarpal martyred during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. In 2019, Varun took to his social media handle to announce the film. He had tweeted, ''Happy birthday to Arun Khetarpal. It was always my dream to play a soldier of INDIA. Sriram Raghavan can’t wait to bring on screen the spectacular tale of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. Produced by Dinesh Vijan. Hope to make you proud Mukesh Khetarpal and Poona Horse.''

Sam Manekshaw biopic

'Sam Bahadur' is the title of the biopic based on the life of India's first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The film will star Vicky Kaushal in the titular role. He was the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army and commanded the Indian forces during the India-Pakistan 1971 war. The name of the film was announced on the birth anniversary of Manekshaw by Vicky. Helmed by Meghna Gulzar, the actor-director duo are reuniting after 'Raazi' starring Alia Bhatt.

'Captain India'

A few days back, Kartik Aaryan announced Hansal Mehta’s next directorial 'Captain India' in which he will be playing the role of a pilot. If the reports are to be believed, the film will revisit ‘one of the most successful rescue operations in Indian history from a war-torn country. The film will go on floors early next year.

'Pippa'

Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli starrer 'Pippa' is based on the life of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. He was a war veteran who fought during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. Backed by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, Khatter will essay the role of Brigadier Mehta in the war drama. Mrunal will play his younger sister while Priyanshu will be seen as his elder brother.
