Mundergi said Khan had a professional commitment for which he wished to travel for only three days, including both travel days, starting May 27, for an event called the UAE Indo-Bollywood award function to be held on May 29. He said the actor had voluntarily deposited his passport with the police and would do so again on his return. He pointed to an earlier HC order which said he was at liberty to seek permission to travel while on bail. The HC judge Justice Abhay Thipsay while admitting his appeal against conviction, had then also said that “liberty (to seek permission to travel) has not been taken away.”
