Salman Khan

Back in July 2015, Salman Khan commented on the Yakub Memon verdict through a series of tweets. He wrote that Tiger Memon, not Yakub Memon, should be the one brought to justice. The tweets generated wide discussion since the case was highly sensitive. He later deleted them after being advised that the messages could be interpreted in multiple ways.

Hrithik Roshan

During the highly publicised Hrithik–Kangana dispute, around 2016–2017, Hrithik Roshan shared the tweet: "There are more chances of me having had an affair with the Pope than any of the (I'm sure wonderful) women the media has been naming. Thanks but no thanks." The line drew attention largely because it used an unexpected comparison while addressing rumours in the media.

Raveena Tandon

In June 2017, Raveena Tandon made a post that several users felt indirectly connected a saree to a communal angle. Her post read: "A sareee day ... will I be termed communal,Sanghi, bhakt, hindutva icon?if I say I love wearing the saree and I think it's the most elegant". Though the intention behind the tweet wasn’t fully clear to many, the conversation grew quickly, leading her to explain that the saree, in her view, should not be linked to any political or religious identity.

Abhijeet Bhattacharya

Around 2016, Abhijeet Bhattacharya tweeted during discussions surrounding the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil: "Another #lovejihad .. Mehbooba #KaranJohar is in depression ..pak lover fawad ditched bechari Mrs @KaranJohar Khan." The tweet referenced filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Fawad Khan during a period when casting decisions were widely debated. His account later faced multiple reports, leading to its removal.

Paresh Rawal

Around 2017, Paresh Rawal tweeted: "Our Chai-Wala is any day better than tour Bar-Wala!" The tweet referenced a viral meme. Since it involved public figures and their past occupations, the tweet led to varied reactions, after which he issued an apology for the phrasing.

6/6

Ram Gopal Varma

On Women’s Day in March 2017, Ram Gopal Varma tweeted: "I wish all the women in the world give men as much happiness as Sunny Leone gives." This post garnered a lot of attention from people because they felt the description contradicted what was meant to happen and therefore created one of the largest discussion among all the responses. After all the people reacted, he posted more clarifications about his intent, and eventually issued an apology.
