'Salman Khan covered me with a blanket because my dress was short,' reveals his co-star Daisy Shah: 'Ladki ko jitna dhakoge utna sunder'
alman Khan is known to have a strict code of conduct for women on his film sets, both for the crew members and his co-stars. He prefers that the women on his set must be dressed a certain way and shouldn't be seen in revealing clothes. The actor insists that women dress modestly, a rule that extends to costumes worn on screen as well. According to Daisy Shah, who worked with him in 'Race 3' and made her Bollywood debut opposite him in 'Jai Ho', Salman strongly believes that “women look more beautiful when they are covered up.”
Speaking to Hauterrfly, Daisy explained that for Salman, women must never be projected as “showpieces” in his films. She added, “For him, ladki ko jitna dhakoge, utni hi zyada sundar dikhegi (a woman will look more beautiful if you cover her up).”
Recalling her first big break with him in Jai Ho, Daisy described the actor as “caring” and shared an instance where Salman intervened during a shoot. “There was this one outfit that I was supposed to wear… This was supposed to be a scene in the morning when I had just woken up. He found my dress to be a little weird so he said, cover her in a blanket,” she remembered. That scene was part of a song, and as she further revealed, “according to him, that night dress was a little too short."
This isn’t the first time Salman’s protective stance has come to light. In 2023, Palak Tiwari, who worked as an assistant director on Antim, revealed that the superstar maintained strict rules regarding women’s attire. Speaking to Sidharth Kannan, she said, “When I was AD-ing with Salman sir on Antim, Salman sir had a rule: ‘every girl on my set, the neckline should be here, all the girls should be covered, like good proper girls’.”
She also added that Salman’s approach comes from a traditionalist mindset. “He’s a traditionalist. Of course, he’s like, ‘Jo pehenna hai pehno,’ but he’s also like my girls should always be protected. If there are men around who he doesn’t personally know, it’s not his personal space where he doesn’t trust everyone, he’s like, the girl should be safe, always.”
