'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani'

Karan Johar is all set to return to direction with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer 'Rocky & Rani'. The movie was announced on Ranveer Singh's birthday. The movie, which will release in 2022, is written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, and Sumit Roy. The film also stars Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, and Dharmendra. KJo's last directorial venture for the big screen was 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' in 2016.

'Anniyan' remake

Ranveer Singh has been roped in for the Hindi remake of the 2005 Tamil blockbuster, 'Anniyan'. The film is slated to go on the floors by mid-2022. The film was announced on the auspicious day of Baisakhi in North India and Puthandu in Tamil Nadu. The original film follows the life of an average man, who is disappointed with the government and system, and takes things into his own hands.

'Takht'

'Takht' is an upcoming period drama set in the Mughal era. It chronicles the story of two warring Mughal princes, Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh. Karan Johar's ambitious project stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. While Ranveer will play the role of Dara, Vicky has been cast as Aurangzeb.

'Cirkus'

Directed by Rohit Shetty, 'Cirkus' is scheduled for release on December 31, 2021. Ranveer Singh will be playing a double role for the first time in his career in this film, which also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hegde as female leads. Varun Sharma, Siddhartha Jadhav, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee, Vijay Patkar, Sulbha Arya, Mukesh Tiwari, Anil Charanjeett, Ashwini Kalsekar and Murli Sharma will be seen in supporting roles. The film is loosely based on the 1982 movie, 'Angoor'.

'83

Helmed by Kabir Khan, '83 is based on the story of the Indian cricket team and how it defeated West Indies to cinch their maiden World Cup win in 1983. Ranveer will be seen as former cricketer Kapil Dev. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jatin Sarna among others. The actor and his wife were stationed in London to shoot the film. Deepika is also co-producing the film.

'Sooryavanshi'

'Sooryavanshi' is the fourth instalment in Rohit Shetty's Cop Universe. The movie stars Akshay Kumar as Anti-Terrorism Squad chief DCP Veer Sooryavanshi opposite Katrina Kaif. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh have an extended cameo appearance in their roles of Singham and Simmba from the franchise's previous films.
