South actor R Badree will portray the character of cricketer

in the upcoming film '83, which is based on the Indian cricket team’s historic win in the
1983 Cricket World Cup
.
Directed by Kabir Khan, this drama film will feature
Ranveer Singh as
Kapil Dev, Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar and Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath among other renowned actors.
The historic match was played between India and West Indies at Lord’s on June 25, 1983, and happened to be the third consecutive World Cup final appearance for West Indies. The Indian team, under the captaincy of veteran cricketer Kapil Dev, played its first finals and defeated the opponent, making it the first World Cup win for India.

R Badree spoke about the movie, which is slated to release in mid-2020, and shared that he is extremely excited to work with Kabir. Being a part of the reel Indian squad of 1983 and playing Sunil Valson’s character is truly amazing for the actor.
