Rani Mukerji’s candid moments on motherhood and raising Adira

Rani Mukerji, apart from being one of Bollywood’s most admired actresses, is also a devoted mother who deeply values her role in raising daughter Adira. Over the years, she has shared heartfelt reflections on motherhood—from the challenges of Adira’s premature birth to her conscious parenting choices with Aditya Chopra. Here’s a look at the times Rani fondly spoke about her daughter, highlighting the love, strength, and values she holds close.

When Rani revealed Adira was a premature baby

Rani once shared with Kareena Kapoor that Adira was born two months before her due date in 2015. Recalling the moment, she said motherhood changes a woman instantly. “You suddenly realize that you're not important anymore. There's somebody else more important than you,” Rani said. Though tiny, Adira stayed in the NICU for only seven days instead of fifteen. With faith and resilience, she grew stronger, and Rani embraced her role as a mother wholeheartedly.

Rani: We don't want Adira to get extra attention

On Koffee With Karan, Rani revealed her and Aditya Chopra’s conscious decision to keep Adira away from paparazzi. “We didn't want Adira to be photographed because… she doesn't feel privileged or very special at school, and she feels like any other kid,” she explained. Rani emphasized their wish for Adira to enjoy a normal childhood. By shielding her from unnecessary attention, they aim to raise her grounded and away from the constant spotlight of fame.

Rani: Adira is having a good upbringing

In an interview, Rani spoke about balancing motherhood with her career. She admitted there are days when work demands keep her from getting home on time. “When you choose to be professional, there are certain sacrifices,” she said. Both she and Aditya, as working parents, are raising Adira to understand that reality. Rani believes this environment is giving her daughter a healthy upbringing—one that instills resilience, understanding, and respect for hard work.

Rani: Adira is the bravest

Rani has often highlighted her daughter’s strength and confidence. She admits to occasional disagreements with Aditya over parenting but remains focused on instilling courage in Adira. “I'm constantly telling Adira she is the bravest and the strongest… and that she has more muscles than Papa,” Rani shared. Through these affirmations, she hopes her daughter will never doubt her own strength or power.
