Actor Randeep Hooda, set to portray the role of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar in an upcoming biopic, paid homage to the legendary freedom fighter on his death anniversary. In a poignant social media post, Randeep reflected on Veer Savarkar's significant contribution to the Indian freedom struggle.

Randeep Hooda revealed that while scouting locations for the film on Veer Savarkar, he immersed himself in the experience by locking himself inside the freedom fighter's cell. This immersive approach aimed to help him better understand and imagine the challenges and emotions that Veer Savarkar might have endured during his incarceration.

Randeep Hooda said , "Today is the death anniversary of Sawatantrya Veer Savarkar. A man whose towering intellect and fierce courage scared the British so much that they locked him in this 7 by 11 foot jail in kalapani for two life times (50 years). During the recce on his biopic I tried to lock myself inside this cell to feel what he must have gone through. I couldn’t stay locked for even 20 minutes where he was locked for 11 years often in solitary confinement."

Starring Randeep Hooda, Ankita Lokhande, and Amit Sial, the film is slated to release on 22nd March 2024 in Hindi and Marathi.
